Since launching our training initiatives in 2021, the Niiwin Wendaanimok Training Program has achieved a massive milestone: empowering over 300 Indigenous individuals, and countingfrom the Treaty #3 Territory to complete training and launch meaningful careers.

Construction Craft Worker Pre-Apprenticeship Training Program

Program Dates: October 6 – November 20

Location: 788 Ritchie Rd, Kenora, Ontario

Cost: Free training, with a paid training allowance of $18/hour

DZ Driver Training

DZ Driver Training Program

When: September 28th to October 2nd (9-4pm daily)

Where: Bannister Centre, 3rd Floor (Niiwin’s Training Office)
Cost: Free 
Paid Training: $18/hr

DZ Driver Training Program This program prepares participants to obtain their Class DZ licence, a key stepping stone in Ontario’s commercial licensing system that qualifies drivers to operate heavy straight trucks, dump trucks, cement mixers, and other large vehicles used in construction, delivery, and related industries. 
Eligibility:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must hold a valid Ontario Class G licence

Don’t have your G licence yet? Please apply anyway. It helps us understand who’s interested in pursuing their DZ, and we can refer you to our training partner who offers G licence training. 

Program Structure:

  • 1 full week of in-class instruction
  • 35 hours of hands-on training in the dump truck

WELDING​

Develop expertise in welding through our focused training program where you’ll learn MIG, TIG, and stick welding techniques. Gain essential skills in metal preparation, joint fabrication, and quality control.

AZDZ@2x

AZDZ & CZDZ​

Develop the skills necessary for safe and efficient operation of these specialized construction machinery. Learn the principles of equipment operation, safety protocols, and maintenance. Gain the confidence to handle complex tasks and become a certified AZDZ and CZDZ operator.

ELECTRICAL​

Embark on an electrical training program to master essential skills. Learn electrical systems, wiring techniques, and safety protocols. Gain hands-on experience and knowledge from experienced instructors. Develop expertise in installations, troubleshooting, and repairs.
